Tempranillo is king there, as in Rioja, but it expresses itself differently. The altitude and the significant temperature differences between day and night give powerful wines, but which also show freshness and fruity brilliance. A little Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are blended in Tempranillo in this cuvée, aged 14 months in barrels (50% new). The nose is intense, with aromas of black fruits, blackberry liqueur, mocha and spices, and hints of graphite. The palate is powerful and racy. The wood is present, but with all the fruit and freshness needed to balance it. The fine, very firm tannins promise it a bright future. Leg of lamb, rib of beef, chili or couscous.
