Finally eco-responsible bank cards!!

In recycled PVC, corn starch, and even wood: the “blue” card sees green. If at the other end of the chain, the recycling of the object remains uncertain, its ecological impact could be reduced by extending its period of validity.

Is this something new for banks to ease their conscience?

For the conscience and the image surely for the novelty, not too much. In 2014, Crédit Agricole experimented with bank cards made from corn starch. Alas, not solid enough, and it took seven years for another major French banking network, Crédit Mutuel, to communicate again on an “eco-responsible” card. A card made from 86% recycled plastic. A very sober visual, suddenly 87% less ink. Last year, Société Générale launched a recycled PVC test on one of its “collector” cards and is to extend it to other cards. It’s also in recycled PVC that Boursorama’s Welcome cards have been since the summer of 2021. Image or not “There is considerable enthusiasm among banks” for these eco-responsible cards, that’s good news and it’s been a good.
