In qualifying, Savard clocked 26.47s, which gave him 15e rank of the general classification of the session. She thus obtained her ticket for the semi-finals, where the 16 best swimmers met a few hours later.

This time, the swimmer from Pont-Rouge was unable to advance to the next round, finishing in the seventh rung (+1.01s) of her wave. Savard thus took the 13e rank in the final classification of the event with his time 26.14 s.

“It was my best 50m butterfly since 2017! The 50m is not my best event, but it was fun”, mentioned the three-time Olympian at the end of the day.

Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom (25.13 s) finished first in the semi-finals, just ahead of American Torri Huske (+0.25 seconds), who set an Americas record in the process. The final will be played on Friday.

For his part, Patrick Hussey made his debut at the World Championships in the 4 x 200 m freestyle relay. Along with his compatriots Ruslav Gaziev, Finlay Knox and Jeremy Bagshaw, Hussey took the 11e qualifying rank and couldn’t get a pass to the final stage

Americans Drew Kibler, Carson Foster, Trenton Julian and Kieran Smith won the gold medal in the event ahead of the Australians (+3.26s) and the British (+3.76s) in the disputed final one little later.
