Filmmaker Oliver Stone will be at Le Diamant on June 15 for a meeting with the public where he will talk about his career and his cinematographic journey.
The 75-year-old American filmmaker, who directed jfk, Wall Street, The Doors, Natural Born Killers, Nixon and Any Given Sundaywon the Oscars for Best Director for Platoon and Born on the Fourth of July.
This is a special event of the Quebec City Film Festival (FCVQ), which will return in the fall after a year’s absence.
“Paul Bleau, a St. Lawrence College teacher specializing in John Fitzgerald Kennedy, was approached by Oliver Stone’s team for the making of the documentary JFK Revisited: Through the Looking Glass. He met Oliver Stone in Los Angeles and he is part of this movie. He contacted us to tell us what he had experienced, ”said Martin Genois, general manager of the FCVQ.
Series of events
The FCVQ wanted to build a series of special annual events on the sidelines of its event. The stars were aligned. “We presented our project to Oliver Stone to bring him to Quebec and he accepted,” he added.
Oliver Stone will also answer questions from the public, at the Clap de Sainte-Foy, on June 13, after the presentation of his documentary.
The Le Clap cinema will take advantage of the filmmaker’s visit to the Old Capital to present, a week before his visit, a retrospective of his films and documentaries.
Retired journalist Jean-François Lépine was chosen to host this meeting at Le Diamant, because of his knowledge of culture and politics.
