A young filmmaker, Emmanuel Gendron-Tardif, was arrested for the murder of his mother in Montreal.

The body of Lysane Gendron, 61, was found Wednesday morning in a dwelling on rue Fullum, in the Ville-Marie borough, in the city center. The apartment would be that of his 28-year-old son.

He was to appear Thursday at the Montreal courthouse, to be officially charged with second degree murder.

Mme Gendron was the assistant director of the culture, leisure and sports department at the City of Laval.

She was well known in the municipal world. Several of his colleagues and collaborators reacted to the sad news of his death on social networks.

“Lysane Gendron had done a lot for the democratization of culture in Laval. She was passionate and knew how to rally us to the cultural cause,” wrote Valérie Dufour, Liberal MNA for Mille-Îles in the National Assembly and official opposition spokesperson for the Laval region, on Facebook.

Louise Lortie, a municipal councilor for Ville de Laval, described her as “a passionate woman who has devoted a significant part of her life to serving the Laval community. »

Emmanuel Gendron-Tardif, an emerging filmmaker, has made three feature films and was working on his first documentary.
