filming of the biopic has started in New York

After Elvis, Bob Marley, Freddie Mercury, this film about Bob Dylan is added to the long list of biopics on rock and pop legends.

Timothée Chalamet will play living folk rock legend Bob Dylan in a biopic currently being filmed in New York, producers announced Tuesday March 26. At 28 years old, the Franco-American is one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood, Dune has Wonkaand multiplies the projects.

The film, by James Mangold, looks back on the beginnings of the interpreter of Blowin’ in the Wind Or The Times They Are a-Changin in New York, until a concert given with his electric guitar in 1965 at the Newport Folk Festival.

Mangold signed the last Indiana Jonespresented last year in Cannes, or Le Mans 66in the world of car racing, but also Walk the Linebiopic about another rocker, Johnny Cash, with Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon.

Titled in English A Complete Unknownthis film is added to the long list of biopics on rock and pop legends, a genre that cinema is very fond of, from Bohemian Rhapsody in 2018 on Freddie Mercury at Elvis in 2022.

Back to Blackabout Amy Winehouse, comes out on April 24 in France, after the hit in February of Bob Marley: One Love, about the pope of reggae. A biopic on Michael Jackson, played by his nephew Jaafar Jackson, is also announced for 2025.

These films are often authorized by the star, or her entourage if she is deceased. This is the case with the film about Dylan, the 82-year-old musician and Nobel Prize winner for literature having given access to his archives.
