Filming of Emily in Paris delayed by writers’ strike

The filming of the fourth season of the popular series Emily in Pariswhich was supposed to begin at the end of the summer, was pushed back at least two months due to the writers’ strike at the Writers Guild of America.

According variety, the delay could even be longer if ever the writers continue their means of pressure. Netflix declined to comment on the news, but a source close to the broadcaster interviewed by the US magazine said the plan was now to start filming in Paris in late fall.

Netflix announced in January 2022 that the series directed by Darren Star would be renewed for a fourth season. The third season of the romantic comedy was launched last December following a crowd-pleasing launch event in Paris, attended by stars Lily Collins, Ashley Park, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Kate Walsh, Camille Razat, Lucas Bravo, Lucien Laviscount, Bruno Gouery and Samuel Arnold.

Present at the Cannes Film Festival on the occasion of the Women in Motion gala, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu had admitted that the filming of season 4 ofEmily in Paris risked being upset by the screenwriters’ strike. The WGA’s 11,500 or so screenwriters are calling on the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers to get a fairer share of royalties paid by online content broadcasters. They argue that this imbalance has meant that their average salaries have fallen considerably over the past decade.
