It looks like a truly impossible love. Since the beginning of April, director Brigitte Sy has been shooting a feature film which is built around a frustrated love between two characters played by Laetitia Casta and Damien Bonnard, because it takes place in prison.

On set, the French actress dresses a (fake) baby. Next, Damien Bonnard laments his very long prison sentence. “For me, it’s the vision of love. This way of loving, of giving oneself completely without limit. To be in the present, to burn everything without thinking of the consequences. It’s this generous, very sensitive way to love”describes Laetitia Casta.

A reconstructed prison cell serves as the setting for the story of a dented couple. For director Brigitte Sy, this is the fourth week of filming. On set, she works on instinct. “There is no real direction, it’s just small indications to the right, to the left. When they play, it’s really inside their own body. I feel moments when it can block , times when it does not pass, times when you have to say the word that needs to be said”she smiles.

On the set, the actor Damien Bonnard appreciates this way of doing things. “She loves us, that’s for sure. She helps us, that’s for sure too. And she directs us so simply. She knows perfectly well what she wants”, he said. The film Happiness is for tomorrow must be released in cinemas “soon”. No date has yet been announced.
