Film distribution | Seville Films will have a new generation

Seville Films, the largest distributor of Quebec films until the transformation of its mandate in June, will have a replacement. The company, whose name will be known over the next few weeks, will be led by Patrick Roy, who until recently was president of Seville Films.

It is therefore a breath of fresh air for Quebec cinema, which was deprived of its main distributor when Entertainment One, owned by entertainment and gaming giant Hasbro, announced that it was ceasing to distribute films in room in Canada.

Born in 1999 following the takeover of the catalog of Behavior, a distributor who had itself bought the catalog of Groupe Malo, Seville Films had acquired an impressive catalog of Quebec films, particularly after their merger with Alliance Vivafilm, in 2012.

The call for help from the film community has apparently been heard, because the financing of the new company is provided by agreements with the Government of Quebec, through its agent Investissement Québec, regional solidarity FTQ of Montreal, the National Bank of Canada and the Society for the development of cultural enterprises (SODEC).

The first films distributed by the new entity as well as the collaborators who will support Patrick Roy will also be known later.
