Figurehead of the Francos and the Jazz Festival, Laurent Saulnier will leave his post

The great honcho of the Francos and the International Jazz Festival, Laurent Saulnier, will leave his post at the end of the summer after 23 years of service.

A well-known figure in the music industry in Quebec, Laurent Saulnier will remain a strategic advisor for the Spectra team, which oversees the two festivals. He also let it be known that he remained the manager of singer Pierre Lapointe.

“It’s only a goodbye… After 23 years of loyal service, hard work and great pleasure, the time has come for me to move on. I will focus on managing Pierre Lapointe’s career and will be a consultant for my two favorite festivals,” he said in a statement Thursday morning.

Former journalist at the defunct cultural magazine See, he joined the Spectra team in 1999. The group was bought out in 2013 by its main competitor, Evenko, owned by the Montreal Canadiens and the Molson family.

The Groupe CH management team also wanted to salute the work accomplished over the past 23 years by Laurent Saulnier, who “played a key role in the growth and development of two of Montrealers’ favorite festivals and thousand tourists.

Spectra’s current programming director, Maurin Auxéméry, will succeed him at the end of the festival season.
