Russia claims that Ukrainian soldiers visited Mariupol (Ukraine). The mayor of the city assures him that “Marioupol is still Ukrainian”.
On Wednesday, April 13, Russian television broadcast images of dozens of Ukrainian soldiers who, according to commentators, surrendered to pro-Russian forces in Mariupol (Ukraine). Some, wounded, are supported or carried on a stretcher. These surrenders would take place in the maze of the city’s industrial complex. During the last hours, they were surrounded by the Russian army. The command announces as imminent the total capture of Mariupol.
Mariupol is 90% destroyed and the fighting is still raging. It is possible to observe a plume of smoke above the airport. The other war, that of communication, continues. The city’s mayor, Vadym Boichenko, says that “the situation remains very tight but Mariupol is still Ukrainian”. After 49 days of siege, Ukrainian authorities say 20,000 to 22,000 civilians have died. Some are still trying to flee the city.
