Fighting continues in eastern Ukraine, where the Russians have decided to concentrate their efforts. Some civilians are fleeing to take refuge in the center of the country.
In Lysychansk (Luhansk, Ukraine), the bombs keep falling. A wounded resident is evacuated with the help of Ukrainian soldiers, and the few civilians still present pass in front of burning houses.
In the east of the country, the Russian army is concentrating its efforts on Lysychansk and Sievierodonetsk (Luhansk, Ukraine), strategic cities to allow him to advance in the Donbass. In the Luhansk region, pro-Russian separatists say victory is near. “We will achieve our goal no matter what“, assures Leonid Pasechnik, separatist leader of the People’s Republic of Lugansk.
The Ukrainians recognize that the fighting is difficult. “The enemy is very defiant, he tries to break through our defenses with small groups, but he fails so far“, says Sergei, a Ukrainian soldier. In a train station, civilians flee the bombardments, while the front line approaches their home. They leave to take refuge in central Ukraine.
