An Iranian army fighter jet crashed on Monday (February 21st) in a residential area of Tabriz, in the northwest of the country, killing three people including two crew members, state television reported. An investigation has been opened, she added.
The head of the Tabriz Red Crescent said that the aircraft hit the wall of a school, killing the two crew members and a resident of the residential area. The official Irna agency published a short video showing firefighters putting out the fire at the crash site.

The Iranian air force is equipped mainly with Russian Mig and Sukhoi fighter planes dating from the Soviet era, a few Chinese aircraft, and American F4 and F5 from before the Islamic revolution of 1979.
