French justice canceled the approval of Anticor, Friday, June 23. It allowed the anti-corruption association to initiate legal proceedings. Two appeals have been initiated, and the association has already filed a new application for approval.

Two dissidents ofAnticor are at the origin of the legal proceedings against the anti-corruption association. They believe that Anticor obtained the renewal of its approval irregularly in 2021, and the administrative court agreed with them by canceling this approval on Friday, June 23. Without him, it is impossible for the association to initiate legal proceedings. The NGO denounces this situation.

A retroactive cancellation

“It’s a blow, a direct attack on our ability to act effectively against corruption. Thanks to Anticora hundred politico-financial procedures are currently being dealt with by the courts”said Élise Van Benedenpresident ofAnticor. Cancellation is retroactive. Anticor fears negative consequences for certain politico-financial issues in progress. The latest complaints filed could fall into the water. Only two other NGOs are authorized to lodge complaints in matters of corruption: Sherpa And Transparency International. Two appeals have been initiated, and a new application for approval has already been filed.
