It will be the 30and edition of this prestigious evening intended to raise funds for the Elton John Foundation for the fight against AIDS. This year’s event marks a return to an in-person party, following an “online” party last year due to the pandemic.
The very social evening, given on the sidelines of the Oscars in Los Angeles, has raised more than $86 million to date, according to the organizers. Singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile will perform on stage at West Hollywood Park.
“Lady Gaga, Billy Porter and Eric McCormack are not only incredibly talented, but have also contributed greatly to the visibility and inclusion of LGBTQ+ people in entertainment — both on screen and in music,” said L. one of the co-hosts, David Furnish, who is president of the foundation and the husband of Elton John.
The foundation fights against discrimination against people with AIDS. It funds initiatives to provide treatment, prevent infections and lobby governments to provide support programs for people living with HIV.
