Fifty-eight Quebec athletes will be part of the 338-member Canadian delegation that will represent the country at the Summer Olympics in Paris later this month.
The Olympics will officially begin on July 26, but some preliminary competitions will take place starting on the 24th.
The youngest athlete in the delegation will be 14-year-old snowboarder Fay De Fazio Ebert of Toronto, and the oldest will be 61-year-old equestrian Jill Irving of Moncton, N.B.
The delegation will include 38 athletes who have already won an Olympic medal, including weightlifter Maude Charron, and 142 who took part in the Tokyo 2021 Summer Olympics, including tennis player Félix Auger-Aliassime.
The Canadian delegation won 24 medals in total in Tokyo three years ago, a record for the country in a non-boycotted Summer Games. Canada’s haul of seven gold medals also allowed the Canadian team to match its record in that regard in a non-boycotted Olympics.
Canada will also send six teams to the French capital, including the men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as the women’s soccer tournament champion.
