After a 2-1 win over the United States and a draw with Mexico, Canada’s men’s soccer team climbed two places in the FIFA rankings to 38e position.
Of CONCACAF’s top six nations, Canada was the only one to improve on Thursday. Mexico remains 17ewhile the United States and Panama slipped two positions, pointing to 18 respectivelye and 37e ranks.
Costa Rica is 50e and Jamaica 61e.
This is Canada’s best ranking since head coach Jesse Marsch took over in May when the Maple Leaf was ranked 50th.eSince then, the team has gradually grown to 49.e48e40e and 38e ranks.
Canada’s highest ranking in the men’s category was 33rd.e level. It was in February 2022 under the leadership of John Herdman. The Maple Leaf had also been named FIFA’s Most Improved Team in 2021.
The new rankings take into account 184 international matches involving teams from all six confederations, including qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in Asia, Oceania and South America.
THE top 10 has not changed with, in order, Argentina, France, Spain, England, Brazil, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Colombia and Italy. The gap has however narrowed since Argentina lost 2-1 against Colombia and 3-1 against Italy.
Canada’s next match will be a friendly against Panama on October 15 in Toronto. The next FIFA rankings will be released on October 24.
