The Senegalese Lions won the CAN 2022. Next step for the team: the World Cup in Qatar. Aliou Cissé, coach of the Lions, regrets that there are not more African teams qualified for the championship.
At the end of CAN 2022, the Senegal team won the Cup against the Egypt team.
“They are boys who are experienced, we have a Ballon d’Or with us, we have boys who have played, who have won the Champions League, so I was not worried about managing emotions.”, commented Aliou Cissé, coach of the Senegalese Lions.
As the 2022 World Cup approaches, to be held next November in Qatar, Aliou Cissé has also publicly expressed his regret at not seeing more African teams present.
“It can’t go on like this anymore. Fifa must do something to make our football count”said Aliou Cissé.
Of the 32 qualified teams, 5 nations are African: Senegal, Tunisia, Cameroon, Morocco and Ghana.
