He is a French mathematical genius, passionate about matches and probability. Hugo Duminil-Copin won the medal Fields, Tuesday, July 5. VSlike Thirteen French people have won this prestigious award. He is notably the author of theorems that he created himself. To combine his passion and his profession, the mathematician gives courses in probability in Paris and in Switzerland, in Geneva. His goal is to make everything understandable, as one of his students describes it: “There are a lot of interactions, he asks us ‘and there, what do you think it is?‘.”

For Hugo Duminil-Copinmathematics is imagined in strolling through the streets. The career of this genius mathematicianwas yet not directly devoted to probabilities.
