Since the establishment of paid tests for patients not vaccinated against Covid-19, are the French being screened less? Response elements.

Covid-19 screening tests have become chargeable since October 15 for patients not vaccinated against the coronavirus. A practice that could have had a major impact on the decrease in screening nationwide: in some pharmacies, the daily number of tests is halved. The epidemic resumption since the beginning of autumn has timidly revived the number of tests carried out. For some specialists, screening should be made free again.

“Today, now that we are at the start of a new epidemic wave, we need all the control tools to be at their maximum efficiency”, explains Pascal Crépey, epidemiologist at the School of Advanced Studies in Public Health. For some French people, “there has been too much abuse” Covid-19 screening tests. An opinion followed by the authorities, who do not envisage a return to free education.
