The new British study is reassuring “because we see a reduction in hospitalizations when we are infected with Omicron which ranges from 50% to 70% compared to the infection with the Delta variant“, says doctor Damien Mascret live from the 20 Hours plateau. And the second limit cis that the epidemic is spreading among young people “and in young people we know that there are fewer serious forms“, explains the doctor. Omicron would therefore be less dangerous than the Delta for older people. “First of all, more of them have recalled. But also for anatomical reasons. Researchers in Hong Kong have shown that with the Delta variant we had a lot of variants and viruses which descended into the lungs and that made serious forms. While with Omicron it goes less into the lungs, there are therefore fewer serious forms“, continues Damien Mascret.
