The psychological thriller The red roomsby Montreal filmmaker Pascal Plante, will be presented this fall at the Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival, in Germany.


In a press release published Thursday, the festival organization unveiled the first nine films in the program for its 72e edition which will take place from November 16 to 26. Among these, we include the most recent feature film by Pascal Plante, The red rooms.

The film will be featured in the Pushing the boundaries section, dedicated to works by established directors who push the boundaries of their medium in original ways. The festival organization writes that, in his thriller, Pascal Plante “attacks the dark underbelly of the human condition and fully immerses himself in the point of view of his female protagonist. ” In The red rooms, released in theaters this summer, a young woman attends the trial of a man accused of murdering three girls. Her resemblance to one of them pushes her to search for the last piece of the puzzle.

The red rooms earned Pascal Plante (Nadia Butterfly, Fake tattoos, The porn generation) four awards at Fantasia, including the Cheval Noir for best feature film.
