[Festival de Cannes] Crush and rage on the Croisette

Favorite: Woof Woof!

Among the prizes awarded by parallel juries ahead of the official awards, the palm dog, crowning the best canine actor in the selection, enjoys unparalleled popularity. The coveted collar was granted to Snoop, the border collie of the film Anatomy of a fall by Justine Triet, portraying a guide dog who brilliantly pretended to be sick. Ken Loach, a great friend of dogs, received a palm of honor for his entire career, with special mention to the delicious Lola, in The Old Oak, playing the best friend of the main hero. There have been on this Croisette over the years unforgettable palm dogincluding the one offered to Oggie, the learned dog of The Artist by Michel Hazanavicius in 2011. And of course, the entire sensational canine cast in the aptly named Dogman by Matteo Garrone in 2018.

Rant: don’t condemn Putin!

Cannes red carpet stars competed this year in eccentric outfits, revealing dresses and other sartorial finds that caught the flash of cameras to flash the world’s small screens. But we liked the long yellow t-shirt of Alina Baikova, a Ukrainian model who had first hidden the object of the offense under her trench. She opened it Friday evening on the steps before the screening of Ken Loach’s film (who would have liked it), revealing in giant blue letters the words: “Fuck you putin “. My rant goes to the security agents who quickly urged her to zip up her coat, before accompanying her immediately to the exit. Here, the protocol intends neither to laugh, nor to demonstrate loud and clear. Nevertheless, his photo made the rounds of the media, as expected.

Odile Tremblay is the guest of the Cannes Film Festival.
