Halloween is over, we put the pumpkins in the soup, make way for Christmas and its magic. A little over a month before the gifts were dropped off at the foot of the tree, the city of Dijon unveiled the full program of the festivities, Monday, November 15, 2021. After a Christmas 2020 under curfew, with very little entertainment, Christmas 2021 promises to be much more magical. The municipality has a budget of 300,000 euros to implement the famous magic.
Top start on November 27
The illuminations will be lit on November 27 at 6 p.m., from Place Darcy to Place Saint-Michel, via Rue de la Liberté, but also on certain facades of the city center.
The same day, the ephemeral ice rink will be inaugurated on the Place de la République, by its godfather, the 2007 world figure skating champion, Brian Joubert.
Return to normal, or almost
The traditional activities are back: the descent of Father Christmas, on December 24, from the Tour Philippe Le Bon. The village of the good fat old bearded man dressed in red is however moved, on the Place de la République. It is here, on the Place de la Rep ‘, that the big wheel, 40 meters high, will be reinstalled.
The Christmas market will also be reborn. 29 chalets – compared to 46 in 2019 – installed on Place Darcy and rue de la Liberté.
The giant fir is back
Almost the only clue that indicated Christmas last year, in full curfew, the giant Christmas tree is being reinstalled on the Place de la Liberation. Installation should take at least three days.
