Ferrari presents a new car “in continuity” with the previous one

The Ferrari team presented its new single-seater on Tuesday for the 2024 Formula 1 season which opens at the beginning of March in Bahrain, a car which is “a continuation” of the developments made during the 2023 season.

Two weeks after causing a thunderclap in the world of F1 by recruiting seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton from 2025, the Scuderia unveiled its new red single-seater, the SF-24, in a very short video published online. , which also features a touch of yellow and white.

“2023 was a special season with a difficult start and a rather good end to the season. We must build 2024 on our end of season 2023, and above all minimize the number of points lost, be much more opportunistic. It is certain that the performance of the car is important but we must minimize the points lost,” underlined Frédéric Vasseur, the French boss of the Italian team, in a video published on the Scuderia website.

“In 2024, we must continue along the lines of 2023 and continue to progress in terms of team, be more efficient. What’s important is to do a better job today than yesterday and if we keep this momentum going, it will pay off in the end. There will be ups and downs, as with any team. The most important thing is to remain consistent in our approach,” he added.

Ferrari did not carry out a technical revolution, remaining in line with the developments which bore fruit in the second half of last season. However, the car has been redesigned.

On the simulator, so far, the car has reacted really well. The problems we had last year with the old car seem to have been resolved on the simulator […]. We must wait for the tests in Bahrain to confirm that this is the case.

“The main objective was to continue the developments carried out during the year in 2023, but it is very different from what we did in the winter of 2022 and 2023, each part of the car has been redesigned” explained Enrico Cardile, the technical director in charge of chassis and aerodynamics.

The objective of the prancing horse brand was to give its two drivers, the Monegasque Charles Leclerc and the Spaniard Carlos Sainz, a car that was easier to drive.

The F1 season will resume on March 2 in Bahrain after three days of testing on the Gulf island (February 21-23).
