Ferland Mendy has an injury to his right shin and has ruled out the next two matches for Les Bleus in Nations League, against Italy on Friday, September 6 at the Parc des Princes, and against Belgium on Monday, September 9 in Lyon. As a replacement, Lucas Digne was called up to join the Blues at Clairefontaine. The FFF confirmed the information via a press release published on its website on Monday, September 2.
Replaced shortly after the hour mark against Real Madrid on Sunday evening, the left-back remained in the Spanish capital to undergo treatment.
For Lucas Digne, who plays for Aston Villa, it’s a first since June 2022 with the French team, and a defeat against Croatia. Blocked by Ferland Mendy and the Hernandez brothers, Lucas and Théo, he could therefore celebrate his 47th selection in the coming days, at the age of 31.
