He certainly wasn’t expecting this call. Ferland Mendy has an injury to his right shin and has ruled out the next two matches for Les Bleus in Nations League, against Italy on Friday, September 6 at the Parc des Princes, and against Belgium on Monday, September 9 in Lyon. As a replacement, Lucas Digne was called up to join the Blues at Clairefontaine. The FFF confirmed the information via a press release published on its website on Monday, September 2.

Replaced shortly after the hour mark against Real Madrid on Sunday evening, the left-back remained in the Spanish capital to undergo treatment.

For Lucas Digne, who plays for Aston Villa, it’s a first since June 2022 with the French team, and a defeat against Croatia. Blocked by Ferland Mendy and the Hernandez brothers, Lucas and Théo, he could therefore celebrate his 47th selection in the coming days, at the age of 31.
