Félix Auger-Aliassime advances to third round at Indian Wells

Quebecer Félix Auger-Aliassime reached the third round of the Indian Wells Masters with a convincing 6-4, 6-1 victory against French qualifier Constant Lestienne.

Auger-Aliassime won 85% of the rallies played on his first service balls in addition to recording four breaks in 10 opportunities. He successfully defended the three break points he conceded to Lestienne.

The 23-year-old tennis player will face the winner of the duel between Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, second seed, and Italian Matteo Arnaldi.

seed no 31, Auger-Aliassime benefited from a bye in the first round.

Later Friday, Ontario’s Denis Shapovalov will face Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp.
