On Friday March 18, 2022, Letizia and Felipe VI traveled to Marín, in the province of Pontevedra, Galicia. The King and Queen of Spain have paid tribute to the 21 sailors who died or disappeared at sea in the sinking of a Spanish trawler last month off the coast of Canada. Warmly welcomed despite the circumstances, the royal couple shook hands and kissed relatives of the victims during a religious service at the Novo de Santa María do Porto Temple. Letizia and Felipe had dressed in black, the monarch in a Carolina Herrera dress and Magrit shoes, and her sovereign husband in a suit. Hundreds of people who could not enter the church watched the ceremony on a giant screen.
