(Atlanta) Justin Thomas was close to hitting a putt that would have ended Saturday’s round with a 63-under 7. And the bell rang to signal the end of play due to thunderstorms around the PGA Tour Championship course.

He will have to wait until Sunday not only to complete his round, but to find out what his chances of winning the FedEx Cup and his 18 million purse are.

Scottie Scheffler was still in the lead, but narrowly. Xander Schauffele was hot on his heels and even matched him for a moment. Both players were on the 13e hole when the bell rang and are part of the list of 10 players who will have to complete their round on Sunday morning.

Scheffler was 19 under par overall but was par in his third round.

Schauele experienced a roller coaster ride. It was minus 1 on Saturday. In the space of six shots, he had two back-to-back birdies, two back-to-back bogeys and followed with two more back-to-back birdies.

South Korea’s Sungjae Im was three shots off the leader at 16 under. If Thomas got the putt, he would be at 15 under overall, as would Rory McIlroy.

Jon Rahm, Patrick Cantlay and Sepp Straka were all 14 under par and are all scheduled to complete their rounds on Sunday morning.

Corey Conners, the only Canadian to qualify for the final stage of the FedEx Cup, is tied for 27e rank with a cumulative plus 1.
