Federal Competition Bureau | Investigation into gasoline pricing consulting firm

(Gatineau) The federal Competition Bureau announced that it has launched an investigation into gasoline pricing consulting firm Kalibrate to determine whether the services it offers harm competition among gas stations in Canada.

Kalibrate Canada is a subsidiary of Kalibrate Technologies, a UK-based company that provides data and consulting services to various industries.

In Canada, Kalibrate’s primary business is providing competitive intelligence services and location and pricing consulting to retail gasoline and diesel suppliers.

The Competition Bureau says Kalibrate also holds an extensive historical database on the Canadian retail gasoline and diesel market.

The bureau says it has obtained a court order to review Kalibrate’s data, pricing and consulting services and to see how the company provides pricing advice to gas station operators.

The office says there are no findings of wrongdoing at this time.
