(Montreal) Tension is mounting in the federal public service, as thousands of members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) begin this Wednesday to vote on a strike mandate.
This strike vote will be held until April 19 across the country.
It affects some 120,000 PSAC members who report to the federal Treasury Board.
A possible strike could take different forms: rotating by region, unlimited, by day or others. If such a mandate were indeed granted by the members of the Alliance, a strike could be called as early as the end of May or the beginning of June, indicated PSAC-Quebec.
The dispute concerns wages, work-family balance, teleworking and the outsourcing of public service jobs to the private sector.
