Federal Civil Service | Public servants start voting on tentative agreements

(Montreal) Some 155,000 union members employed by the federal government will begin voting on Wednesday on the agreements in principle that had been reached between the parties regarding the renewal of the collective agreements.

Voting will take place from May 24 to June 16, using an online platform.

These tentative agreements put an end to one of the largest strikes in Canada. The strike began on April 19, affecting several federal departments and agencies.

A first agreement in principle was reached on 1er May between the Treasury Board and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) concerning 120,000 public servants in four major groups.

A second agreement in principle was reached on May 3 between the Canada Revenue Agency and the Union of Taxation Employees affecting 35,000 workers.

The agreements in principle provide for an increase of approximately 12% over four years, as well as the payment of a lump sum. The PSAC also obtained gains for its members regarding telework through a letter of agreement.
