Nantes supporters are prohibited from traveling to the Mosson stadium in Montpellier on Friday April 25, during the Ligue 1 match between MHSC and FC Nantes, France Bleu Hérault reported on Wednesday.
The Hérault prefecture took this decision in order to avoid clashes between supporters of the two clubs. “Any person claiming to be a supporter of FC Nantes or behaving as such is prohibited from accessing the Mosson stadium in Montpellier.”, details the prefecture. The ban also applies to the surroundings of the Mosson stadium as well as the city center of Montpellier.
Last year, on January 15, 2023, clashes broke out ahead of the match between MHSC and FC Nantes between Nantes ultras and Montpellier ultras, recalls the prefecture. “This violence resulted in some injuries to the police,” specifies the prefect.
The Hérault prefecture also prohibits “the possession, transport and use of firecrackers, smoke bombs, flags and banners whose inscriptions call for provocation, violence or hatred, as well as any object that can be used as a projectile”.
