FC Barcelona | Messi ‘will not be able to return’ without financial effort from the club

(Madrid) The president of the Spanish championship, Javier Tebas, estimated on Wednesday that FC Barcelona was not currently in the financial capacity to bring back his former glory Lionel Messi, but said he hoped “that he would come back”, thanks to an austerity plan from Barça.

“Today, he could not (be registered in La Liga, editor’s note), but there is still time”, explained Tebas in a press conference, adding to wait “a feasibility plan from Barça”, which could in particular “sell players”.

The president of LaLiga assured “hope” that the Catalan club would manage to bring back the Argentine star, whose contract with Paris SG ends in June.

“We are not going to modify the rules of the financial control approved by the clubs to register Messi”, specified Javier Tebas, even if “it would be our wish that he returns to our championship”.

Wednesday, the Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo claimed that Barça had “the firm intention of recovering Leo Messi”, next summer, on the basis of a two-year contract.

“La Pulga” had left his training club in tears in 2021, before joining PSG during the summer.

Since his arrival, Messi has scored 31 goals in 69 games, without however managing to become an idol in Paris, due in particular to the failures of the Parisian club in the Champions League.
