(Washington) Violent crime fell in 2022 in the United States compared to the previous year, with a decline in all categories except robberies, according to annual statistics released Monday by the Federal Police (FBI) .
The decrease stands at 1.7% on average, with -6.1% for murders, -5.4% for rapes and -1.1% for violent assaults, specifies the FBI. On the other hand, robberies are up 1.3%.
The statistics for hate crimes are stable, focusing mainly on black people for racist attacks, Jews for those motivated by religious affiliation and homosexual men for those linked to sexual orientation, indicates the FBI.
“This data reminds us that hatred hides, but never disappears,” commented President Joe Biden in a press release, noting a “25% increase in anti-Semitic acts between 2021 and 2022.”
