The father of the seven-year-old girl knocked down on Thursday by a motorcyclist who was doing a wheelie in Vallauris (Alpes-Maritimes) has denounced the decision not to send the main suspect to provisional detention. “No respect for our daughter or for ourselves,” he wrote on Facebook. His daughter’s prognosis is “very committed”according to the Grasse public prosecutor’s office. “Thank you French justice”he still says ironically.

The 19-year-old motorcyclist is under investigation for “unintentional injuries”. The judge of liberties placed him under judicial supervision against the demands of the prosecution, who wanted provisional detention. The suspect will notably be prohibited from appearing in Vallauris, from leaving the Alpes-Maritimes department and he will have to report once every two weeks to the Antibes police station, without coming into contact with the victim of the offence, his parents, his brothers and sisters and hand over his driving licence to the courts. The prosecution said it had appealed this decision.
