While he starts to face Toulouse on Thursday, November 9, in the Europa League, Liverpool striker Luis Diaz received excellent news before the match. The Colombian’s father, kidnapped since October 28 by the guerrillas of the National Liberation Army (ELN) in a gas station, was released on Thursday, as confirmed by the Colombian selection and Liverpool on their social networks. The 26-year-old’s mother was kidnapped and released the same day. On Sunday, the Colombian winger celebrated his goal against Luton Town by displaying a the message “Freedom for Dad” (“Freedom for Dad” in Spanish) on his t-shirt under the jersey.

Accompanied by a humanitarian mission, Luis Manuel Diaz landed by helicopter at Valledupar airport, in the north of the country. “Long live Freedom and Peace!”, reacted Colombian President Gustavo Petro on social networks. The military commander of the last recognized guerrilla in Colombia, Antonio Garcia, admitted last Saturday to having committed “error” with this kidnapping, while the ELN was conducting peace negotiations with the South American government.
