Fatal ski accident | A teenager falls from a ski lift in Morin-Heights

A teenager lost his life after falling from a ski lift at a ski resort in Morin-Heights, in the Laurentians. The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has opened an investigation, but a priori, everything indicates that no criminal element is involved.

It was a little before 10 p.m. on Friday evening that SQ officers were called to the scene of an accident involving a 15-year-old young man.

According to initial information, the young man “fell from a ski lift,” said a spokesperson for the police force, Camille Savoie.

She specified that resuscitation maneuvers were first carried out on site by station staff as well as paramedics. The victim was then rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the authorities.

Several investigators as well as forensic identification technicians were sent to the scene. An investigation was still underway on Saturday.

“All the hypotheses are currently being studied, but at first glance, there would be no criminal element in this,” continued M.me Savoy. The possibility of a tragic accident is therefore the most plausible at this stage, but investigators will try to shed light on the exact causes and circumstances of this event.
