Fatal hit and run in June in Brossard | Greenfield Park man arrested

(Montreal) A resident of Montérégie was arrested Thursday by the police who consider him a suspect in the hit and run that occurred on the night of June 24 in Brossard, which cost the life of a young woman aged 25.

The Longueuil Agglomeration Police Service (SPAL) specifies that the 32-year-old man, who lives in Greenfield Park, has been remanded in custody pending his court appearance this Friday, at the Longueuil courthouse. . SPAL reports he could face charges of failing to stop following a fatal accident, dangerous driving causing death, public mischief and attempted fraud.

The hit and run occurred around 4:20 a.m. at the intersection of boulevard de Rome and rue Lautrec. Police determined that the driver of a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck struck a woman crossing the street.

Rather than stopping to help the victim, the suspect reportedly fled towards Taschereau Boulevard in his late-model vehicle.

The police investigation then quickly located the suspect van in Greenfield Park; it was then seized in order to find clues to capture the person responsible for the crime.
