After a full day of searching, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) finally succeeded in locating the remains of the 12-year-old who died. in the violent fire that reduced the family home to ashesin Saint-Georges, in Beauce.
“On April 17, late in the evening, a body was found in the rubble of the fire which occurred on the evening of April 16, on the 90e street in Saint-Georges. Everything suggests that it is the teenager who is missing following the event,” explains SQ spokesperson Hélène St-Pierre.

She says the remains discovered will have to be analyzed at the Forensic Sciences and Forensic Medicine Laboratory in order to confirm the identity of the victim to the satisfaction of the coroner.
For the moment, there is no evidence to suggest a criminal act in connection with the fire which left five minor injuries and one dead.
“The investigation into the causes and circumstances of the fire continues. In particular, witnesses must be met and expert assessments must be completed,” continues the spokesperson.
Remember that the mayor of Saint-Georges, Claude Morin, confirmed to the media that the house which housed a blended family was not equipped with a working smoke detector.
Neighbors met on site by The newspaper also spoke of a “ball of fire” to demonstrate to what extent the century-old residence isolated from sawdust had been ravaged by flames at lightning speed.
