Fatal errors for culture

The Ministry of Culture and Communications recently quietly sold Maison Chevalier to a private company called Groupe Tanguay. Without reading the articles by Jean-François Nadeau and Étienne Paré (The duty, October 14 and 16), I wouldn’t have known! Reporting to the Musée de la civilization and located in the heart of Place Royale, in Old Quebec, the Maison Chevalier, built in 1752, gave unique access to the old interiors of a house in New France. The ministry acted in such a sneaky way when it shut down its Quebec City documentation center, known as the “ministerial library” on its website a year ago. Like an enormous number of citizens of our nation, I regret the decision and the opaque ploy, both unjustifiable, of the Minister of Culture and Communications. What irreparable damage!
