Fatal collision in Montreal North | The Press

A 90-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle in the Montreal North sector.

The collision occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Léger Boulevard near Lanthier Street, in Montreal North. Upon arriving on scene, first responders located a 90-year-old man injured in the upper body.

He was unconscious when transported by ambulance. Léger Boulevard is a major artery with six traffic lanes, two of which are reserved for public transportation, which crosses a residential sector of Montreal North. The collision occurred at the corner of Avenue Lanthier, which does not have a pedestrian crossing.

“It appears that the pedestrian crossed Léger Boulevard at the intersection,” said agent Jeanne Drouin, SPVM media relations.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver, a 77-year-old man, was alone in the vehicle during the accident. Investigators are on site to analyze the scene and witnesses to this fatal collision are currently being interviewed.
