Fatal collision in Montérégie: the young student was returning from an audition at the National Theater School

An 18-year-old young man, who dreamed of doing the performing arts, was returning from an audition at the National Theater School when he tragically lost his life in a collision a week ago in Saint-Patrice -of-Sherrington.

“We always joked that we were going to sell his autographs later. But we will never have the chance,” says Alan Demoy on the other end of the line.

His son Loïc lost his life after a collision on Route 219 late Sunday afternoon. For a reason still unknown, his small car first deviated from its lane before hitting a first vehicle, then a second.

Loïc Demoy was 18 years old.

As for the other drivers as well as the passenger in another car, they suffered minor injuries.

A revelation

The young 18-year-old student was returning from auditions for the National Theater School in Montreal at the time, explains his father.

“He did a joint audition with one of his best friends. When he returned to CEGEP, he had a revelation. He really discovered a passion for the performing arts,” he explains.

His eldest son was in his second year of studies in human sciences at Cégep Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. His biggest dream would have been to audition for the National School of Humor, according to his father.

“He was funny and loved to make people laugh. He had a zest for life,” says Alan Demoy, a cider maker recognized in his region, in Montérégie.

Since high school, Loïc has also been involved in improvisation leagues at school and even in summer leagues during the summer season. “He ate it,” according to his father. He was even part of the “elite team” of his CEGEP.

The day before the accident, he was in Quebec for an improvisation match.

“[Dimanche], he left Quebec that same morning to go to Montreal. According to initial findings, he may have dozed off at the wheel. He should have taken the time to rest somewhere,” says Alan Demoy.

The fatal face-to-face encounter on Route 219 occurred on Sunday March 10, 2024, around 4 p.m.
