fast growing trees

Some fast-growing tree species are very problematic because of their vigorous surface root systems, such as silver maple, weeping willow, and poplar. These should be avoided in urban areas. Also, even though some trees are fast-growing, their tolerance to transplanting can greatly affect their first years of life. Thus, some trees such as oak can take up to 5 years to regain their growth rate following transplant shock. Predictable !
