A larger premises for Argent Tonic
The Argent Tonic jewelry store has moved to Saint-Laurent Boulevard in the heart of Mile End. This new location is bigger and brighter and the jewels are showcased in this place where the Hotel Herman restaurant was located a few years ago.
Aaron Maya opened his Argent Tonic jewelry store in 2002 on Laurier Avenue. And 21 years later, he was ready for a fresh start. “This district is very dynamic, there is a lot more traffic than in Laurier, and there are also a lot more tourists since Mile End is in all the guides! he said. After visiting the bagels, they come over here! »
“There are also nice shops and restaurants. There is the Guillaume bakery just opposite, and the clothing shops, Unicorn and Ça va de soi. I am delighted. »
The trademark of Argent Tonic? The jewels are unique creations. The earrings, rings, bracelets and necklaces are mainly in sterling silver and 24 carat gold plated silver. “These are handcrafted pieces. No two jewels are alike, whether in the combination of gemstones or colors. We buy precious stones directly, emeralds, rubies, aquamarines, turquoises, tourmalines or natural pearls. We make the jewelry, then it goes from the workshop to the store, there is no middleman,” says Aaron Maya. The jewelry sells for $25 to $800.

The flagship store of American jeweler Tiffany & Co. located in New York on 5e Avenue at the corner of 57e Rue has just reopened its doors to visitors. Renovation work began in 2019 and took longer than expected, but “the result exceeds our greatest dreams,” said Tiffany chief executive Anthony Ledru.
In addition to the jewelry counters, the heart of this iconic store is an impressive spiral staircase. Nearly 40 works of art are spread across the ten floors of the store, including those by artists such as Damien Hirst, Julian Schnabel and Anna Weyant. This department store had opened in 1940, and was immortalized in 1961 thanks to the film with Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s (Diamonds on couch).
Founded in 1837 in New York by Charles Lewis Tiffany, Tiffany & Co. is world famous for its diamonds, engagement rings and jewelry as well as its packaging in turquoise boxes.
