Launch: the 10th anniversary of the Atelier b boutique
The Atelier b boutique is celebrating its 10th anniversary and is launching a book to highlight the event. This book, very neat, is in the image of the Montreal brand of minimalist clothing for women, men and children. It retraces the 10 years of the space, which includes a boutique and a creative workshop founded by Catherine Métivier and Anne-Marie Laflamme.
“It was in 2011 that we settled in this boutique-workshop located on Saint-Laurent Boulevard to welcome customers, but also to have a space to organize cultural events. We like the unifying side of this space, which we have been missing for the past two years,” says Anne-Marie Laflamme in an interview.
Over the years, the two co-founders of the brand have organized photo exhibitions, book launches and musical performances, including those of Milk & Bone and Elliot Maginot. On the fashion side, Atelier b is a clothing brand with clean lines. Pants, t-shirts, jackets and shirts are made in Montreal, a zero waste manufacturing process. “We work with natural fibres, linen, cotton, tencel, and everything is made within a radius of 5 to 10 km. It’s part of our values to be an ecological and responsible brand,” says the designer.
The challenge to last today? “It’s not easy, but diversifying has always helped us. We have many sales channels, online and in store. We also do corporate design like aprons for restaurants and corporate uniforms. We also collaborated with the Museum of Fine Arts during the Thierry Mugler exhibition where we produced a series of cushions. We also teach fashion design at university. These different revenues allow us to be a growing company,” says Anne-Marie Laflamme, for whom the transmission of know-how is important.
The Atelier b brand hopes to launch very soon a range of objects for the home with the same values as its clothes, minimalist, aesthetic and ecological. “We work with our textile scraps to create hangers and lampshades. It will be soon, we can’t wait, ”says Anne-Marie Laflamme.
