New store and new range for Attitude
The flagship store of the Quebec brand Attitude opened a few months ago on rue Saint-Denis. Between the walls of this welcoming space, zero-plastic, vegan cosmetics designed in Quebec. Great novelty on the shelves: the Oceanly make-up range, which also respects all the brand’s ethical rules.
The place is designed to provide a pleasant, hassle-free experience. The space of the first Attitude boutique, in the heart of Plateau-Mont-Royal, is open and allows you to discover the brand’s offer in a peaceful environment (there are 220 real plants there – the place literally breathes! ). As with the visual concept of its products, Attitude has kept its point of sale minimalist and uncluttered, with a design that brings you back to nature.

This nature is at the center of Attitude’s mission, since the brand only offers products bearing the EWG Verified seal (certification ensuring that no harmful chemical element is found in their formulas), vegan, cruelty-free and formulated with ingredients of natural origin.
“Each time we look at a new product that we would like to develop, we look for how we can be useful in the beauty industry,” explains Jean-François Bernier, president and CEO of the company.
“Developing a natural product is easy, but developing one that will perform and that people will love – plus the added complexity of our biodegradable cardboard packaging, which means we can’t use water – it’s really a challenge. »
Going around the store, you come across the different collections, those for sun protection, deodorants, hair care, household products, Oceanly face care, of which Ludivine Reding is the muse.
Recently, we also find on the shelves the many products that make up the Oceanly makeup collection. Thus, for most beauty products, Attitude tries to offer a “zero waste and zero trace” option.
We’ve tested
For luminous skin and light coverage, Oceanly Foundation (six shades) is a super tool. Like all the other products, it is offered in its cardboard packaging, equipped with a push button. The product doesn’t feel like it’s wearing a heavy layer of makeup, but does a good job of blending out small marks and even skin tone. Those who want more coverage may not find it, but for light everyday makeup, this is a winner.
And, on the contrary, for a “makeup-free” effect, tinted oil (six shades) is an even better choice. The concealer and bronzer (three shades) also do a great job, plus they’re nice on the skin and well-tinted (something natural products don’t always manage to accomplish).
For all skin types, the blush gives a healthy glow without being too heavy on the face. Five different shades are offered. Thanks to the applicator, you can easily dose the amount that best suits the look you are looking for. Ditto for the illuminator, one of our favorites in the range, whose creamy formula allows easy and targeted application. The three lip glosses, like tinted balms, are the perfect finishing touch.
The products make it possible to treat and nourish the skin while making it up, since all are designed with active components for facial care. Best of all, makeup stays put all day long. We like to do more for the planet, more for our skin, without compromise.

Wonders of the Cosmos by Maria Karimi
1/4
Mindful Pigs is the latest project from Afghan-born Montreal designer Maria Karimi. After having dressed several Quebec personalities and launched MAR, a high-end made-to-measure brand, then ready-to-wear, she founded this clothing brand last year. streetwear, aligned with its values. Vegan and gender neutral, Mindful Pigs pieces are made in Montreal with comfort and longevity in mind. Although they are of different styles, we find in the pieces of this brand the playful details that enhance the creations of MAR. For this second collection called The wonders of the cosmos, who describes herself as a “sweet activist” explores, in particular through original prints, the interconnection between the beauties of the universe, whether those of space or the Earth, plants or humans. Note that the fabrics used are printed in Montreal, with water-based ink. Mindful Pigs is taking part in the MURAL festival which takes place in Montreal until June 18th.

Tested and approved: quickly done, well done
Little is known about the Lontreau range, which was founded here, on the West Coast, by athlete Angie Buonassisi. And we do not know if it was his sporting career that made the products effective, both in their action and in their form. The creams are sold, in particular, in small tubes of 10 g, very practical for travel. We particularly liked the vitamin C boost – referred to as the Most Valuable Player by Lontreau to whom we forgive (half!) full English, knowing the roots of the group. It is a protective gel that completes the routine by nourishing the skin, protecting it and leaving it looking truly luminous, clean and healthy.
Lontreau, Most Valuable Player, $70 for 10g. For sale online only.

Tested and approved: for a smooth shave
The American brand of Billie razors had a lot of talk a few years ago with its advertisements showing body hair, but until now it was not found in Quebec. This is no longer the case. The great thing about these razors is that all five blades are surrounded by a wide band of soothing, aloe-based shaving soap that takes effect immediately. And if you also use the shaving gel based on lavender milk, the softness effect is irresistible – and deliciously scented. Among the little extras: fun colors (lilac, pink, coral, mint green) and an ergonomic rubberized handle that does not slip; but above all, a very practical magnetic holder to hang the razor on the wall of the shower. You can also get the travel case, both solid and safe, which allows the blades to stay dry when traveling thanks to tiny ventilation holes.
Price: $16.99 for the starter kit, $16.99 for the four-pack, $7.99 for the travel case and $9.99 for the shaving gel; on sale at Pharmaprix and Walmart.
