Event: the MAD Festival back in August
The MAD Festival, formerly Fashion and Design, will be back on the Place des Festivals from August 24 to 27. With its new identity, unveiled last fall, the event further affirms its art and entertainment aspect, without neglecting fashion. For this 23e edition, the festival will bring together 150 local and international artists for free shows, art installations, parades and a pop-up market. Some thirty fashion designers, including Guillaum Chaigne and Lakuachimoto, will present their most recent creations, as well as students from LaSalle College, UQAM’s École supérieure de mode and Marie-Victorin College. On the performing arts side, the public will be able to attend musical performances by LouPhelps and Claudia Bouvette as well as dance performances by Collection MG.02 and UMOJA.

Designer Alexandra Cyr draws inspiration from her travels around the world to create clothes for her brand, Mademoiselle Earth. For the spring-summer 2023 collection, it was Bali, Italy and Vietnam that inspired the designer. “It is made up of pretty Balinese-style dresses with a very bohemian and romantic look, there are also chic suits, linen jackets and pants. These are all original creations,” Alexandra Cyr tells us. There are also silk blouses and scarves, and leather bags from Italy. The Mademoiselle Earth boutique is located at 367B, rue Saint-Paul Est, in Old Montreal.
