Call the “gods of the fields”! Like the rugby players, who each year pose naked for the “Gods of the Stadium”, the Young Farmers of the canton of Wasselonne have also been photographed in their simplest device as part of a calendar. The objective: to stay in contact with the population and to promote the agricultural professions in the region.
Naked in the vineyards, and in the sunflower fields
The project was born out of a glass after an agricultural competition. “The idea was to represent the whole of Alsatian agricultural know-how: the vine, the fruits, the cereals … I asked all the members of the association, and 14 answered present “ laughs Mathieu Beller, the president of the Young Farmers of the canton of Wasselonne.

A first opus had already been published in 2005 by their predecessors. If they have decided to imitate them this year, it is also to keep in contact with the population.
“We are used to organizing meetings with the population, parties … As it was more complicated this year with the sanitary rules, it allows us to maintain a link with the population”, explains Jérémie Fritsch, the “December Mister” of the calendar. As a winegrower, he sat on a barrel, a glass of red wine in his hand.
When we see the result, we say to ourselves: ah yeah, anyway
Like him, all have been photographed at their workplace, naked, in action and in a beautiful setting. Mathieu Beller appears on the May page of the calendar, “in the Wolxheim wine quarry, with the cliff in the background”.
He is standing in front of the vines with a hoe and … buttocks in the air. “When we take the picture we don’t really think about it. And then when we see the result in the calendar, we say to ourselves: Oh yeah anyway !”
The calendar is currently available in several tobacco shops in the canton of Wasselonne. A sale takes place this Saturday, October 23, 2021 in front of the city supermarket. The price: 10 euros. And if there is a shortage of stock, “we can easily get others” assures Mathieu Beller.
