Tractors have been converging from all over Poland since the start of the day, Wednesday January 24. They are blocking more than 160 roads across the country. Anger is brewing against the common agricultural policy, “This demonstration is in solidarity with France, Germany, Romania, the Czech Republic and Slovakia”, lists a farmer. The mobilization also concerns imports from Ukraine.
Farmers protest in Lithuania and Switzerland
Lithuanian farmers are also protesting and heading towards Vilnius, the capital. The latter reject the Brussels green pact. Environmentalists have joined the movement and plan to stay in Vilnius until Friday January 26.
Farmers are suffering in Switzerland. They saw their income drop by 6%. Although they are not subject to the common agricultural policy of the European Union, discontent among the profession is growing. The government is aware that it is facing a flammable situation. Since the farmers’ crisis, Switzerland has already reduced the price of diesel.
